Jukebox with LeiRock Music Requests

For my podcast show I decided to start something a little different. Those of you who listen to my podcast show on Blogtalkradio.com know that I play some great music. LeiRock: What is the name of your group and the name of your group members?
40/20 Boyz: The 40/20 Boyz and Will Flow (Willie Flowers) age 23 Mr. Ick aka Icky Al (Albert Munnerlyn) age 25
LeiRock: How did the group get the name?
40/20 Boyz: The group got its name from a address of a common hangout spot, were a “HomeMade” music studio was Located. In 2007 the group had 4 members TazMatic, Creeper, Will Flow, and Mr. Ick but was cut down to two member because the lack of direction from the other group members.
LeiRock: Where are you all from? What are the talents in your group?
40/20 Boyz: The group is based out of the Eastside of Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Ick was born in Atlanta, Ga and Will Flow was born in Dayton, Ohio. Will Flow is the go to guy of the group from promotion to engineering. Mr. Ick is a lyrist of the group. As a group they have combined a sound of Rap, Rock, and R & B
LeiRock: What are your musical influences?
40/20 Boyz: Our Music Influences are, OutKast, 8 Ball & MJG, and Cash Money Records. As a individual Will Flow was influenced by his family who are all musical inclined and has been part of Jazz Bands, Doo Wop, and Gospel Choirs also he is influenced by Artist such as Andre 3000, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, Blink 182, Green Day, and John Legend. Mr. Ick is raw street talent who is influenced by Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and “Old School” Music such as The Temptations, Jackson Five and The Dells
LeiRock: How would you describe your music for the public audience if they never seen you before?
40/20 Boyz: We would describe our music as Rock Rap & B Music. The 40/20 Boyz has all types of music touching on a couple Genres R & B, Rap, and Rock & Roll. Our music can touch everybody. The 4020 boyz have Dance Songs, R & B songs, and Rock songs.
LeiRock: How long have you all been performing and making music?
40/20 Boyz: As a group The 40/20 Boyz has been making music for 2 years and performing music for a year. Will Flow has been making music for 5 years and performing for 4 years. Mr. Ick has been making music for 5 years and performing for 3 years.
LeiRock: You’ve heard the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?
40/20 Boyz: We have heard this term a lot in our pursuit for happiness. So we did some research and there are 3 main starving artist types: the undiscovered artists who would often die in poverty as they thought discovery would come to them without their own pursuit of it, the paid artist wit small time fame who are comfortable wit being in the middle, and the working artists without much money, but with a lot of ambition, who could survive well whether they became rich or stayed poor. We are the working artist who have all the Ambition and would do whatever it takes to become successful no obstacles but gather money but it’s always a hustle.
LeiRock:How would you define the word “success”?
40/20 Boyz: The word Success can be defined many ways. We think our success is based on how the average fan perceives us. If people like what you’re doing they will invest in you. Meaning how many people enjoy what The 40/20 Boyz is doing wit music and Life (Family, and Friends). Will I be a great father, friend, or musician?
LeiRock: If you could perform with anyone in the world who would it be? Why?
40/20 Boyz: we prefer to perform with each other. A Live show is different then making the song in the studio. Now in the studio we currently have a Record with Soulja Boy but, we would love to work wit Young Jeezy, Drake, Lil Wayne, Usher, Keri Hilson and Gucci Mane.
LeiRock: What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases?

Jukebox with LeiRock Review | Dee Goodz - CKDO Vol. 1

Southern hip hop artist Dee Goodz recently released his mixtape College Kids and Dropouts Vol.1 with DJ Crisis. The mixtape was executive produced by Dee Goodz and producer OpenBoxATX. I have to give kudos to them for their selection of songs to include. Featuring mostly original production from OpenBoxATX, The Geeksqad, and E.P., CKDO Vol. 1 is well put together and all the tracks flow seamlessly. Smooth melodies with and edge is how I describe the feel of the music here. Dee Goodz makes sure he more than compliments the flawless production he's provided with. Honest with bravado and conviction is the best way to speak on how Dee Goodz weaves his way over his musical landscape. He tackles his road to success ("Small Thing to A Giant"), relationships and women ("Keep Pimpin" , "Special feat. WhitB"), his daughter ("A Dream Deferred"), and takes on all challengers ("Gimme Mine feat DannyO"), ("Force In The Game"). All in all CKDO Vol. 1 is simply a superb offering from Dee Goodz and his team. This mixtape is a must have for any true hip hop head.
